Doha Asian Games!
i just watched the opening ceremony & now i'm still WHOAHHH.
it was soooo cool if you missed it, DAMN.
i missed the first part. i guess what i like about it is that the whole thing was so strong in ethnic/cultural flavour plus the whole thing was damn hi-tech and whoooooooooooh.
IT WAS BREATHTAKING.
i liked the part when the pretty covered up arab woman wearing the black ethnic costume thing, (who draped a magnificent golden cape over everything behind her) sanggg. omg it was quite cooolios.
then there was the lost man in the middle of nowhere. then the other men dressed him up and he was like really happy and they all built a great ship! ohyeahh and there was a projection of some map (gulf? entah) on the floor of the stadium while they were on the ship.
thenn he had a son, the oh so adorableblebleble sonnnn. ssssssss hot father & son.
& in came the acrobats on many different huge sculptures representing industrial evolution....
i cant really remember what comes next. some people sang, i think. that chinese guy & laterlaterlater that indian girl. they sang goood.
then there was the breathtaking part. the oh so breathtaking part.
so, they were passing the ever-burning-torch around then the last guy ran to this empty spot and suddenly, this complicated fancy flower-like structure opened up to reveal a (handsome) man on a (handsome) black HORSE. (yes, a freaking horse.) the horse was really pretty.
not to mention well-behaved.
so the guy lit his torch then he & his horse galloped around, but i had no idea what they were doing cos the commentary was all broken up due to BAD transmission, so all i heard were "music", "extraordinary" & other random words. (apalah mediacorp cannot fix.. & nice of you to air the repeat telecast of the doha asian games opening ceremony so darn early in the morning, so i'm one of the very few watching D: rarrr )
& when he finally looked up i saw a tall never-ending staircase/slope thing, all the way to somewhere at the top of the stadium where the torch was, i supposed.
THEN I WENT "O.M.G", cos the horse began to gallop up the slope & i prayed for it not to fall as the guy leaned his body close to the horse. like, helloo, horses dont usually gallop up steep man-made slopes reaching scary heights. so that was something.
as they almost reached the top, the horse appeared a little tired, & there was one point where it actually SLIPPED ( i was on the edge of my seat) but nope, they made it. i was like, Alhamdilillah.. thank God!!!
then they lit the torch.
the torch was a pretty sculpture which looked like an atom, yknow with those flipping rings around the middle, where the fire was lit. (the horse did a teensie leap when the fire lit the middle. hee, poor horse.)
kayy after that my heart was still on boombooomboom mode & the rest of the ceremony was okay, with the englishman & the arabic woman singing some theme song or something. niice.
ohyess and there were loads of men on horses it reminded me of the time when people actually made use of horses a lot. like in wars or daily activities.
then lalalaa & it was over. i WISH i were there to see it live.
can't believe i just blogged about something i saw on tv.
ohhh & i was thinking, Singapore would looove to organize something like this. right? of course! but then again, i dont think our cultural/ethnic flavour will be strong enough or that intriguing cos Singapore doesnt really have a strong sense of culture, since we're all rojak (i cant even speak malay too well), & besides, many of us dont exactly stick to our respective traditions. like, we're also so influenced by the west anyways.. Uniquely Singapore.. & then there are other things..
